On March 31st, the Marine Corps Marathon announced the results of its annual lottery. There was a lot of pop on social media as runners received their confirmation emails – and justifiably so. The Marine Corps Marathon (“MCM”) is one of the largest marathons held in America, with well over 30,000 runners annually. It is fondly referred to as “The People’s Marathon”, it is a solid choice for first time marathoners as the course is not overly-hilly, the temperature in late October in DC usually cooperates, and the organization is truly top-notch. They offer one of the best runners expos in the country, and their swag is awesome. All of this…and I haven’t even mentioned yet the energy on the course, as Marines cheer (and YELL) you on – keeping you motivated to do your best and not give up. The finish is truly emotional – one you will never forget. If you want more info on this race, just visit the race site: (http://www.marinemarathon.com). This race is an absolute honor to run. SO….congratulations to all that got in!!!! And if you didn’t make it this year – shoot for 2017, because it’s worth it!! DAWS will have a runner in MCM this year, so please follow us as we’ll chat about the journey in the coming months.
